Rick Baker
Rick Baker and his huge love and fascination for Apes and
Werewolves, themes often revisited throughout his working career.
Rick Baker (born December 8, 1950) is an American special make-up effects creator known for his creature effects. I
was introduced perhaps to this legend in the industry at a very early age and
that impact was immense, Just as I’ve followed the path of movie making and its
progress in the creative realms of special make up effects so have I with the
works of Rick Baker and his team of talent artists through his California based
at Cinovation Studios founded in 1981.
Baker received
the inaugural Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for his work on An American Werewolf in London. Subsequently, Baker has been nominated for
the Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar ten more times, winning on seven
occasions, both records in his field.
Rick Bakers throughout his creative practice has been no
novice to computer imagery, He often used Photoshop to create his concept work
when pitching clients. Bela Lugosi rendered in ZBrush a digital sculpting
application which brought him a huge following and interest on the forum groups
with this new media and his creative art.
