Rocky Horror Picture Show - From Theatre to Cult Film


The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 British-American musical comedy horror film adaptation of The Rocky Horror Show, a musical stage play created by Richard O’Brian.
The film stars Tim Curry in the lead role of Frankfurter and pays humorous tribute to the Science Fiction and horror movies of the late 1940-1970’s. The Cast of the film also includes the original King’s Road cast members from the theatre/play production.
It has the longest running theatrical release in film history and has created a huge cult following worldwide.
The film was recently added to the U.S. National Film Registry by The Library of Congress as being culturally, historically and aesthetically significant.
The film is budgeted at an estimated $1,200,000 and grossed $139,876,417 in the USA alone.
